On the record: Kent State scores four in first inning of 6-3 win over YSU

Joe Vranesic allowed one run on three hits through five innings and Dylan Rosa and Pete Schuler each had two RBI for Kent State in a 6-3 baseball win over host Youngstown State on Tuesday.

The Golden Flashes (20-12) put the game out of reach early with a four-run first inning that sent Penguins starting pitcher Javier Alvarez to the bench after one inning of work. Rosa and Schuler each hit a two-run double in the first inning, and Mason Mamarella and Nick Kanavas each had an RBI single in the sixth inning to lead the Flashes.

Vranesic struck out four and didn’t issue a walk in his five innings of work to earn his first win of the season.
