The University of Akron softball team has been picked to finish fourth in the Mid-American Conference East Division, according to a preseason poll voted on by MAC coaches.
Kent State and Central Michigan tied for first in the poll.
The MAC tournament will take place at Akron’s Firestone Stadium on May 11-14.
UA’s season opens Friday through Sunday at the Dot Richardson Invitational in Deland and Clemont, Fla.
In addition, Zips senior pitcher Erin Seiler and junior center fielder Savannah Fruin were both selected to the College Sports Madness 2016 Preseason MAC All-conference team.
Seiler was selected to the first team, while Fruin was named to the second team.
