The Kent State men’s golf team won the Mid-American Conference Championship for the seventh time in eight years Saturday in Sylvania, Ohio.
The Golden Flashes claimed the program’s 23rd MAC title with a final score of 16 over — 20 strokes ahead of runner-up Northern Illinois.
Chase Johnson led the Flashes with an even-par 71 after birdies on the final two holes moved him into a tie for fifth place. He was named MAC Player of the Year.
Sophomore Ian Holt (Stow) shot a 1 over and finished tied for second with a 3-over 287. He joined Johnson on the all-MAC first team.
