The Kent State men’s golf team won its second tournament of the spring, taking the title at the Seahawk Invitational Monday at the par 72 Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
The Golden Flashes finished with a 7-under 857 (291-281-285). The team’s third-round score grew their margin of victory to 47 strokes, breaking the tournament record set in 2012 by East Carolina. Second-place Army came in at 40 over.
Josh Whalen and Gisli Sveinbergsson finished first and second, respectively, for the Flashes. Whalen was the medalist with three under-par rounds, finishing at 9 under, and Sveinbergsson was runner-up at 5 under.
