On the record: Kent State in first place after first day of MAC men’s golf championship

Kent State carded a 1-under 575 and is in first place after the first round of the Mid-American Conference men’s golf championship at Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio.

The Golden Flashes are seven strokes ahead of second-place Ball State, with Saturday’s second round set to begin at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday’s final round teeing off at 7:45 a.m.

Gisli Sveinbergsson is tied for first place with a 6-under 138 to lead the Flashes individually. Ian Holt (Stow) is tied for fifth with a 1-under 143 and Chase Johnson (Walsh Jesuit) is in eighth place with a 1-over 145.
