Making their final appearance at the Diamond at Dix, seniors Janel Hayes and Ronnie Ladines each threw a shutout as host Kent State beat Bowling Green in both ends of a softball doubleheader Sunday.
The Golden Flashes started the day with their second consecutive 2-0 win, and then earned an 8-0 victory in five innings. The sweep earned KSU the No. 4 seed in this week’s Mid-American Conference Tournament.
• The University of Akron closed its regular season with a 5-1 loss at Miami. The Zips (26-28, 12-12) are seeded seventh in the MAC tournament, which begins at Firestone stadium Wednesday.
