Junior Eli Kraus (Medina) pitched a three-hitter to lead top-seeded Kent State to a 7-0 victory over No. 8 Toledo in the first round of the Mid-American Conference baseball championship Wednesday in Avon, Ohio.
Kraus (8-3) struck out eight and walked one. He threw 68 of his 99 pitches for strikes.
The Golden Flashes (36-16, 18-6) will play the winner of Wednesday night’s late game between Ball State and Ohio University at 8 p.m. Thursday.
Junior Dylan Rosa hit a two-out grand slam in the seventh inning to cap a five-run inning and give Kent State a commanding 7-0 lead over the Rockets (16-40, 9-16).
