On the record: Ian Holt just misses advancing to match play at U.S. Amateur

Kent State golfer Ian Holt, a state champion at Stow High School, was eliminated when he bogeyed the seventh playoff hole in the stroke-play portion of the U.S. Amateur at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., Wednesday morning.

Holt finished the 36-hole stroke play portion in a tie for 57th place and was in a 23-man playoff with eight spots available in the 64-man match play event.

Holt parred the first six holes of the playoff and was in a three-player battle for the final spot when he was eliminated by the bogey.

Holt’s KSU teammates Tyler McHugh and Chase Johnson were both eliminated on Tuesday.
