Gabrielle Figueroa placed first in the hammer throw to lead the Kent State track and field team on the first day of the Northeast Ohio Quad at the Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex in Akron.
Figueroa won with a toss of 197-8 and surpassed LeVania Henderson’s mark of 191-04 for third all-time in Kent State history.
Jackie Leppelmeier finished in second place with a toss of 195-9.
Senior Megan Dornisch led the University of Akron on Friday with a third-place finish in the women’s hammer throw.
Dornisch placed third with a mark of 188-4 to lead the Zips women, and senior Bobby Mitman placed fifth in the men’s hammer throw to lead the men.
