Former University of Akron standout Annika Roloff will compete for Germany in the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the German Olympic Sports Federation announced on Tuesday.

“What a great honor for Annika,” Zips track and field coach Dennis Mitchell said. “It was exciting watching her progress this year. She is a very tough competitor and it will be fun to see what see does in Rio.”

Roloff, who will compete in the women’s pole vault, will be joined in Rio by fellow UA athletes Shawn Barber (men’s pole vault) and Clayton Murphy (men’s 800 meters).
