Ohio State sophomore Nathan Tomasello (CVCA) was pinned in overtime by Thomas Gillman of Iowa in the 125-pound semifinals at the NCAA wrestling championships on Friday at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Tomasello, the defending national champion, and Gillman were tied 1-1 after the third period to force the sudden victory period.
Kent State senior Ian Miller lost 7-5 in overtime to Isaiah Martinez of Illinois in the 157-pound semifinal. Miller, who appeared to suffer a leg injury early in the match, trailed 4-3 in the third period and took a 5-4 lead with a takedown with less than a minute remaining in the match.
