The University of Akron gave up four runs in the 12th inning to lose a 4-0 heartbreaker to Central Michigan in Mid-American Conference softball Saturday afternoon.
After pitching 11 brilliant innings, Zips freshman Lexie Handley (St. Vincent-St. Mary) gave up four runs on four hits. She struck out eight and walked one in a career-long outing.
UA (15-20, 4-5) left eight runners on base.
