AUSTIN, Tex. – Kent State shot rounds of 296 and 295 on Monday to finish day one of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in seventh place at 15-over par.
The Golden Flashes arrived in Austin as the tournament's two-time defending champion. Host Texas staked an early claim to end KSU's run of victory's at the University of Texas Golf Club, surging to an 8-under-total after two rounds to take a commanding 13-shot lead over Arizona State.
Michaela Finn, who placed second individually in last year's event, led the Kent State lineup with rounds of 73 and 71 on the 6,491-yard, par-72 course.
