Eric Lauer was named a National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association First Team All-American while he and Zarley Zalewski were named American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings First Team All-Region honorees on Wednesday.
The accolades put Lauer one step closer to being the second consensus First Team All-American in Kent State history as he has already been named such by Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America. He was also named a finalist for the coveted Dick Howser Award and a Golden Spikes Award semifinalist. Lauer adds being a finalist for the National College Baseball Hall of Fame Pitcher of the Year honor to his long list of awards while he was named the Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Year earlier this month.
