This past season was successful for Kent State women's and men's basketball, as the men's team tore through the MAC tournament en route to a berth in the NCAA tournament, while the women's team increased their win total by 13 games from the 2015-2016 season, which was good for a MAC East title.
Those accomplishments were recognized by coaches in the MAC, as both teams were ranked as second in the MAC East in their respective preseason coaches poll.
Men's basketball
The Kent State men's basketball team earned 139 total points in the coaches poll to go along with two first place votes, marks that put them at second in the MAC East.
