INDEPENDENCE, Minn. - The Kent State University men's golf team began the 2016-17 season with a strong showing at the Gopher Invitational, hosted by Minnesota, at the Windsong Farm Golf Club in Independence, Minnesota. The Golden Flashes finished fourth overall with a 20-over par score of 872 (286-290-296).
The performance marked the second straight top-5 finish at the annual event for Kent State. The score goes far in the team's goal of being top-25 ranked by the end of the fall, with a better finish then three of the four top-25 teams in the field.
Leading the pack for Kent State was Ian Holt, who finished with an overall score of 215 to finish tied for seventh.
