Men’s basketball: Flashes look for third straight win against the MAC’s best offense, nation’s top scorer

KENT: Kent State has won two consecutive games in large part due to its point guards, but Central Michigan will provide a stern test for the Golden Flashes on Saturday at the M.A.C. Center.

Sophomore Jalen Avery and junior Kevin Zabo have split time at the point for KSU, but in Tuesday’s 73-66 road win over Northern Illinois, they each had 16 points and contributed two assists. They both made vital shots when the Flashes (11-9, 3-4 Mid-American Conference) needed them most to stage their comeback victory over the Huskies.

Three nights earlier against Toledo, Avery and Zabo each managed six points and ran a methodical, efficient offense that previously had been turning over the ball too often.
