CLEVELAND: Sophomore guard Jaylin Walker’s layup with just three seconds remaining lifted sixth-seeded Kent State over No. 2 Ohio 68-66 in a Mid-American Conference Tournament semifinal game Friday night at Quicken Loans Arena.
Bobcats junior guard Jaaron Simmons scored a game-high 25 points, but it was his missed free throw with just 10 seconds to go that Walker rebounded and took coast-to-coast for the game-winner. Facing a one-point deficit and two foul shots, Simmons made his first but his second bounced off the rim. Walker snagged the ball and maneuvered through a mass of Bobcats defenders. His shot rattled in just seven seconds after Simmons missed.
