CLEVELAND: Kent State was in deep trouble Monday against visiting Central Michigan, which appeared ready to end the Golden Flashes’ season in the opening round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament.
Just three days after a 66-56 loss to the University of Akron, the sixth-seeded Flashes strung together a comeback and earned a 116-106 overtime win over the Chippewas at the M.A.C. Center and advanced to Thursday’s quarterfinals and will play Buffalo in the late game at Quicken Loans Arena.
The Chippewas built a 17-point lead in the first half and had the Flashes on the ropes.
But senior forward Jimmy Hall led the way for the KSU (19-13, 10-8 MAC) with a career-high 33 points, joining four teammates in double-digits.
