AVON: The Kent State baseball team fell apart in the eighth inning of Saturday’s MAC Tournament game against Eastern Michigan and will now have to beat the Eagles for the second time in the tournament to have a chance to play for the championship.
With the score tied, the eighth-seeded Eagles (23-35) scored five runs in the eighth for a 10-5 win over the top-seeded Golden Flashes (43-13) at All Pro Freight Stadium.
After falling behind early, the Flashes had rallied to tie the scored in the sixth but could not keep the momentum.
In an eighth inning to forget, senior right-hander Eli Martin surrendered five runs, walking in two of them.
