The Mid-American Conference announced Tuesday that Kent State's Larissa Lurken was named the East Division Player of the Week as voted on by all 12 conference head coaches.
Lurken had a monster week in three games at the Gulf Coast Showcase, breaking numerous personal, Kent State and tournament records. Two minutes into the opening game against No. 5 Baylor she sunk a three that earned her 1,000th career point, becoming the 20th player in Kent State history to reach the milestone. A 39-point effort against Western Kentucky set a new career high in scoring and broke the Gulf Coast Showcase record for points scored in a game as the Flashes battled into overtime against the Lady Toppers.
