Lawson Sets Heptathlon Record at Akron Invitational

AKRON, Ohio – Kent State track and field's TJ Lawson totaled 5,666 points in the heptathlon Saturday at the Akron Invitational setting a new Kent State indoor record.

Lawson set personal-records in six of the seven heptathlon events, three coming yesterday (60m, high jump and long jump) and three coming today (1,000m, 60mH and pole vault), leading to his record total of 5,666 points. Lawson overtakes Dexter Shreve (2013, 5,525 points) for the top spot all-time and currently ranks 11th in the nation.
