CLEVELAND, Ohio – After an impressive performance at the Texas Relays, Kent State track and field's TJ Lawson (Stow, Ohio) has been named Mid-American Conference Male Scholar Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office Wednesday.
A sports administration major, Lawson owns a 3.83 cumulative grade point average and is the ninth different Golden Flash this year to receive the scholar athlete of the week award.
Lawson captured fourth-place in the decathlon this past weekend at the esteemed Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. In what was his first-ever collegiate outdoor meet, Lawson accumulated 7,497 points which currently ranks fourth overall in the nation and first amongst freshman competitors.
