CLEVELAND, Ohio – Kent State redshirt sophomore TJ Lawson has been named Mid-American Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon.
The MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week honor is presented weekly to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
Lawson, who was named MAC Male Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, claimed victory in the decathlon at the Tennessee Relays with 7,724 points to punch his ticket to the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
