After weeks of anticipation and build-up, Kent State ace Eric Lauer was selected by the San Diego Padres in the first round of the Major League Baseball draft, going as the 25th overall pick on Thursday night.
"This is a dream come true," Lauer said. "To be drafted in the first round has always been one of my goals and it's a bit surreal to have it actually happen. I'm really excited to be a part of the Padres organization and I can't wait to get to work to so I can work on my next goal of making it to the Major Leagues.
