CLEVELAND – Kent State volleyball student-athletes Erin Gardner, Alex Haffner and Savannah Matthews have earned Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week honors, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
The trio led the Golden Flashes to victories over Cleveland State (3-0) and Youngstown State (3-2) last week, extending the team's winning streak to six.
Gardner averaged 5.13 digs per set against and anchored a defense that held opposing attackers to a .199 hitting percentage. She tallied 13 digs against the Vikings on Thursday and then led all players with 28 digs on the road Friday against the Penguins.
