MUNCIE, Ind. – The Kent State field hockey team (6-5, 2-0) notched its second-straight conference win of the season downing Ball State (3-8, 1-2), 1-0, on Friday afternoon at the Briner Sports Complex.
One goal is all the Flashes needed to give the Cardinals its first home loss of the season. Freshman Claudia Ortiz found the back of the net for the fourth time this year in the first minute of the game on an assist from Clara Rodriguez Seto.
Kent State controlled possession and outshot Ball State, 16-8. The defense only allowed six Cardinal shots on target and junior goalkeeper Azure Fernsler (5-4) made six saves.
