Kent State pulls away, tops Ohio 89-82 at home

KENT: Kent State forced Ohio’s powerful offense into a dry spell midway through the second half, one long enough for the Golden Flashes to find their top gear and out-punch the Bobcats 89-82 at the M.A.C. Center Saturday night.

Kent State (12-5, 3-1) and Ohio (10-6, 1-3) traded baskets for much of the first half and into the second half, the exact type of game KSU coach Rob Senderoff said beforehand the Golden Flashes couldn’t afford. With the game tied 46-46 with 15 minutes left, Kent State held Ohio’s second-ranked offense in the Mid-American Conference without a basket for four and a half minutes.
