KENT, Ohio – The Kent State University field hockey team (4-3) faced its second nationally ranked opponent in as many weeks, falling to No. 19 Iowa (5-1) Sunday, 2-0.
The first half was a tight battle that ended scoreless. Much of the match was played in the midfield, and neither team had an abundance of chances. However, the Golden Flashes were the more active team offensively, outshooting the nationally ranked opponent, 4-3.
In the 44th minute, Iowa scored the opening goal of the match on a shot from Shannon Talbot just seconds after a corner.
