KENT: Xavier Pollard led Kent State back from a double-digit deficit once Friday night, but he couldn’t do it twice as the Golden Flashes fell 76-67 to Buffalo at the M.A.C. Center.
Pollard finished with a team-high 21 points and dominated ball possession throughout the game as the Flashes twice tried to reel Buffalo back from 14 to 16-point leads. It was his last two attempts, though — one miss, one blocked shot — that left a second comeback attempt empty.
Trailing 69-65 with 90 seconds left, Pollard found room in transition but couldn’t get a contested layup to fall that would have brought KSU to within one shot for the first time in 20 minutes.
