Kent State men’s basketball: Golden Flashes vying for sweep of Akron, top-four tournament seed

A key goal is still in reach for the Kent State men’s basketball team.

Despite an up-and-down season, which included a fast start to conference play followed by two key injuries and an alarming loss of momentum, the Golden Flashes have a chance at one of the top four seeds in the Mid-American Conference tournament and a coveted first-round bye.

The scenario for the Flashes is relatively simple — beat the University of Akron at Rhodes Arena Friday and they’ll be one of the top four seeds.

But, if Kent State loses and either Ball State or Buffalo wins, it will fall out of the top four and have to play a home game Monday before getting to Quicken Loans Arena on Thursday.
