KENT: Two things frustrated Kent State men’s basketball coach Rob Senderoff on Thursday night — defensive struggles in the first half and fan attendance.
The Golden Flashes (6-2) clipped the University of Louisiana at Monroe 73-62 but needed to overcome a 35-33 halftime deficit. They found offensive rhythm at the most pivotal moments of the game, particularly on an 11-4 run in the second half capped by a breakaway dunk by junior guard Deon Edwin.
Only 2,689 people attended the game Thursday, and Senderoff — who reminded the media in his postgame press conference he’s never before said anything like this — said he couldn’t understand why there weren’t more students there.
