Kent State men’s basketball: After huge win over Akron, Golden Flashes look to keep momentum going against tough Bulls

KENT: Kent State coach Rob Senderoff gave his players their Saturday off.

Just hours after the Golden Flashes defeated rival Akron 70-67 on Friday — a win that snapped the conference-leading Zips’ 30-game home win streak — Senderoff said he felt the team needed some time away from basketball. He said he put the Flashes’ victory behind him on the rest day, already fixating on the next obstacle: a Mid-American Conference game at Buffalo.

When his team arrived for practice Sunday, Senderoff said the Flashes (15-12, 7-7) brought the same renewed focus. They had just closed out a late-game win over a team that’s lost twice since the beginning of conference play, but they now face another gargantuan test against the Bulls (15-12, 9-5 MAC).
