As part of its initiative to push the basketball programs to the forefront, Kent State's Athletic Department has announced the hiring of a head strength and conditioning basketball coach.
Newly-hired Rhen Vail will focus solely on the men and women's basketball team.
He was previously the department's assistant strength and conditioning coach for various sports, as well as a graduate assistant while he pursued his master's degree in sport and recreation management.
"Creating support staff positions that are basketball-specific strategically aligns with our goal of gaining 'national distinction' through our men's basketball program," said Joel Nielson, Kent State's athletic director, in a university news release.
