Kent State football: Things looking up for Golden Flashes after confidence-boosting win

KENT: The Kent State Golden Flashes are in a much better spot than they were a week ago.

The Flashes (2-4, 1-1 Mid-American Conference) — operating with a novice quarterback and recovering from a heartbreaking loss to their rival Akron a week before — pummeled host Buffalo 44-20 Saturday.

“A good road win by our guys,” Flashes coach Paul Haynes said Monday during his weekly news conference. “[I’m] pleased with a lot of things that definitely happened on what we challenged our guys with.”

Junior quarterback Nick Holley passed for just 89 yards but rushed for a game-high 244 yards and four touchdowns.
