Kent State football: Golden Flashes to face struggling Bowling Green in road finale

KENT: Kent State seemed poised for the most stunning upset in program history last week against No. 14 Western Michigan.

As late as the fourth quarter, the Golden Flashes were locked in a 21-21 tie with the undefeated and Mid-American Conference-leading Broncos.

Although the effort eventually unraveled in a 37-21 loss, KSU coach Paul Haynes left the field optimistic about the Flashes’ future.

Now, with a game against struggling Bowling Green (2-8, 1-5) Tuesday night, Haynes hopes the Flashes (3-7, 2-4) can cash in on a victory in their final road game of the season.

“Nobody would ever expect us to play Western that good for three and a half quarters,” Haynes said after the loss to the Broncos.
