KENT: When five-time national champion and Alabama coach Nick Saban watched film to prepare for the Crimson Tide’s home game Saturday against Kent State, one simple banner reminded him of his alma mater.
Saban played safety for the Golden Flashes in the early 1970s and was a part of the 1972 team that won the Mid-American Conference and went to the Tangerine Bowl. There’s a banner celebrating that bowl still hanging in the end zone at Dix Stadium today.
“I don’t think you ever don’t remember how special it is to be a part of a championship team,” Saban said.
