KENT: Squandered chances cost Kent State once again in a 14-10 loss to Ohio Saturday at Dix Stadium.
With under six minutes to play and trailing by four, the Golden Flashes (2-5, 1-3 Mid-American Conference) started a possession at Ohio’s 11-yard line after recovering a muffed punt by the Bobcats (5-3, 3-1 MAC).
Junior quarterback Nick Holley rushed three consecutive times but couldn’t pick up a first down. The Flashes opted to go for it on fourth down instead of kicking a field goal to make it a one-point game. The Flashes then failed to convert when Holley overthrew fifth-year senior tight end Brice Fackler, who was open in the back of the end zone, with 3:52 remaining.
