KENT: Kent State’s 31-27 loss to rival Akron on Saturday is going to sting, especially because the Golden Flashes had the lead with under a minute to go.
But, with 20 seconds to play, redshirt junior receiver Mykel Traylor-Bennett rushed three yards for the game-winning touchdown. The score was set up by a 43-yard pass from Zips junior quarterback Travon Chapman to redshirt senior receiver JoJo Natson on the previous play.
Flashes coach Paul Haynes said he believes there’s promise in the disappointment.
“It’s tough and difficult, but our guys will stick together,” Haynes said. “We’ll win a lot of games here.
