Kent State Falls to Syracuse in WNIT First Round

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Kent State women's basketball team's season came to an end on Wednesday with an 84-56 loss at Syracuse in a 2023 WNIT first round game.

Senior Katie Shumate recorded a double-double for the third consecutive game and had team-highs of 18 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Casey Santoro knocked down three shots from beyond the three-point arc and finished with 13 points.

The Golden Flashes (21-11) led most of the contest's opening 16 minutes, but a 15-3 run to end the second period gave the host Orange a nine-point lead at halftime.
