Kent: Powered by early momentum in the first half, Kent State earned its first win of the season, beating FCS foe Monmouth 27-7 Saturday at Dix Stadium.
The Hawks (2-1), who hadn’t allowed a point in a first half this season, allowed 13 in the first half to the Flashes (1-2).
The Flashes were impressive all around in the early going. They outgained the Hawks by 123 yards and their defense didn’t allow a first down on six consecutive third-down attempts. The score at halftime was 13-0, and the Flashes tacked on two more touchdowns in the second half.
