Kent State sophomore kicker Shane Hynes (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) was named Mid-American East Division Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.
After enduring a punishing hit earlier in the fourth quarter, Hynes bounced back and connected on a 35-yard game-winning field goal as time expired to give Kent State a 27-24 victory at Central Michigan Saturday. The kick completed the Golden Flashes' biggest comeback since 2003.
Hynes also matched a career-long 43-yard field goal in the first half. He went 3-for-3 on extra points and four of his kickoffs had the Chippewas starting drives inside their own 25 yard line.
