Flashes Topped by No. 12 Northwestern

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State University field hockey team faced off against No. 12 Northwestern at Murphy-Mellis Field Tuesday afternoon, falling to the Wildcats 4-2. Junior Laila Richter and sophomore Clara Rodriguez Setó each tallied goals for the Flashes.

In an action-packed first period, the Flashes took an early 1-0 lead over the Wildcats in the 6th minute when Richter scored her first goal of the season on a penalty corner inserted by Setó and stopped by freshman Helena Cambra Soler. The Wildcats responded minutes later to tie the game back up at 1-1, scoring on a penalty corner to the top of the shooting circle.
