Flashes Off to Best Start Since 1995 After 4-1 Win

KENT, Ohio – For the first time since 1995, Kent State field hockey starts the season 2-0 after a 4-1 victory over Villanova Saturday afternoon at Murphy-Mellis Field.

The program's method of stocking up on tough competition from the get-go has proven beneficial for the back-to-back conference champion Flashes. Although still early in the season, the team is likely to be just as formidable as they outscored Michigan State and Villanova 7-2 and outshot them 42-17 during the opening weekend.

In Saturday's game, Alison Harmatz got it started early with a goal off an assist from Krysti Lober six minutes into the game.
