OXFORD, Ohio- The No.1 Kent State University field hockey team defeated No. 5 Longwood, 2-1, in the Mid-American Conference Tournament semifinal Friday afternoon at the Miami Field Hockey Complex to advance to the championship game.
The first half featured a defensive battle between the two teams as neither team could capitalize on a goal. Kent State's defense limited the Lancers to only fire off one shot in the first half.
The game remained scoreless until the third period as senior Laila Richter got the Flashes on the board with a goal from the top of the circle, following a foul.
