BOONE, NC- The Golden Flashes had eight wrestlers place in a strong showing at the 2021 Mountaineer Invite hosted by Appalachian State.
Michael Ferree led the Golden Flashes with a second-place finish at 174 pounds. Ferree earned a pair of victories by decision over two App State wrestlers to earn a spot in the 174-title match ultimately won by Matt Finesilver of Duke.
Colin McCracken finished in third at 184 pounds, splitting his two matches on the day. After getting a first-round bye, McCracken dropped his first match to Jacob Thompson of Air Force.
