For most of the game it was a back and forth contest with neither team being able to take momentum from one another. The team as a whole shot an outstanding 61.5 percent from the field.
At the end of the second quarter the Flashes went into the locker room with a small 31-29 lead over the Broncos, but after the buzzer sounded the start of the third quarter it was all Bronco basketball from there. Starting the half hot, Western Michigan went on a 5-0 run. This gave the Broncos a 33-31 lead, their first since 4:26 in the first quarter.
