PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Despite leading in shots and corners on the day, Kent State (0-1) dropped its first contest of the season Friday afternoon by a score of 4-1 at Rutgers (1-0).
The Golden Flashes totaled 14 shots to Scarlet Knights' 11 and earned five corners to the opposition's four, but could not make the opportunities count.
Rutgers took a 2-0 lead into halftime as they scored early on after being awarded a penalty stroke and then again just before the half.
Kent State connected at the 51:07 mark to get on the board for the first time of the season.
