COLUMBUS- The Golden Flashes dropped a hard-fought dual to the third-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes on Sunday, 32-9 in the first traditional dual of the season for Kent State.
The dual started at the traditional 125 pounds and Jake Ferri gave the 13th ranked Malik Heinselman all he could handle in the opening bout. Ferri found himself down 3-0 but used an escape and a third-period takedown to even the match at three. However, Heinselman earned the riding time bonus point to earn a 4-3 decision. Brendon Fenton would drop a 5-0 decision to Nic Bouzakis after the freshman was able to use a takedown and a reversal to grab a 4-0 lead and earned the riding time point.
