KENT, Ohio – Kent State and Northern Illinois each earned a one-run victory to split Saturday's doubleheader at the Diamond at Dix. Sophomore Bailey Brownfield hit a walk-off double in Kent State's 6-5 win in the opening game of and singled to bring the winning run to the plate with two outs in the final inning of a 7-6 loss in the nightcap.
Brownfield's double gave the Golden Flashes (15-20, 5-5 MAC) their first extra innings win in five games this season, and her base hut gave Kent State an opportunity for its second walk-off of the day afternoon trailing 7-1 entering the bottom of the seventh inning.
